Isaiah
17 talks about other cities and nations that will also be wiped
out, viz. Isaiah 17: 2 refers to the cities of Aroer, in southern Jordan,
that will be deserted "and left to flocks, which will lie down, with no one
to make them afraid". Isaiah 18 and 19 talk about the devastation of Egypt
when its forces attack Israel, apparently with conventional forces.
As to the nation that would inflict the damage, everything points to the
U.S.A. at the time of writing, 23 October 2002, due to their intended action
against Iraq. One could speculate that Syria and Hisbullah in south Lebanon
would also be drawn in, pointing their missiles to Israel, that would compel
Israel to take action. Scripture, however, only points to Israel as the God
of Zion's instruments to inflict his judgment on the
nations.
Psalm 149:2 Let Israel rejoice
in their Maker; Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King...6 Let
the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their
hand, 7 To execute vengeance on the nations, And punishments on the
peoples; The Holy Bible, New King James Version.
Zechariah 9:15 He will defend
his people and they will subdue their enemies, treading them beneath their
feet. They will taste victory and shout with triumph. They will slaughter
their foes, leaving horrible carnage everywhere.TLB
Israel, being the victors over
these nations, will also control them and their territory:
Isaiah 14:2 Nations will take
them and bring them to their own place. And the house of Israel will possess
the nations as menservants and maidservants in the LORD'S land. They will
make captives of their captors and rule over their
oppressors.
(NIV)
The Arabs in Israel will of course
also enter into the battle, which they would have instigated in the first
place. Israel will not be able to face this hindrance with the restraint
they're presently limited to; they will have to wipe them out of their way.
With reference to the arms training Arab boys in the so-called
territories in Israel received at summer camps,
we actually received a prophetic word ourselves that
"They are going to lose their
entire male population" - men and boys. (See also
"Ephraim" below)
The devastation of the Arabs in
and around Israel will restore Israel's borders to the area originally mandated
for the Jews in 1920, and beyond that; a vast area and Israel will be in
the situation spoken of in Exodus 23:29
But I will not drive
them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the
wild animals too numerous for you.
It will also fulfill the prophecy that ISRAEL WILL INHERIT DOUBLE A
PORTION:
Isaiah 61:7 Instead of their
shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they
will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion
in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs
Israel will therefore have to
fill the land with people. Various end-time watchers, among whom Dr Gary
Collett
<http://jerusalemministriesint.com>
and author Avi Lipken, agree with
this view. Avi Lipken predicts that it will be like a "vacuum that will suck
in millions of Jews from the diaspora and many Christians.
Due to the
increased hatred of Jews in the nations for what Israel has done,
** people who support
Israel will be told, "Well then go there since you like them so much!" -
Dr. Gary Collett.
According to the
Prophet Obadiah, Israel will actually become a
REFUGE!!
** This sort of thing
already happened after the 9/11 attack in New York: Dov Zakheim, a member
of the NY City Council, told Arutz-7 News (Sept. 12, 2001) that during
the mass flight across the Brooklyn Bridge and other bridges out of southern
Manhattan, Jews wearing yarmulkes were attacked by "members of the minority
community, blacks and Latinos," who punched them and said, "It's all your
fault, get out of here, go back to your country."

BE THEREFORE READY TO MOVE
TO ISRAEL!!
It must be noted, however, that the nations might
intend Israel to serve as sort of a ghetto where pro-Zion people can be gathered
and destroyed en masse. It will not be an easy task, though, because
Israel will have become the most powerful nation on earth, and notorious
because it will be like the time Pharaoh's troops were destroyed in the Red
Sea. People will say,
... "Let's get away from the Israelites!
The LORD is fighting for them ..." Exodus 14:25
What also comes to mind is
the prophecy:
"In those days ten men from
all languages and nations will take firm hold (cling)
of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, `Let us go with you, because we
have heard that God is with you.'" Zechariah 9:23.

Israel's last remaining ally!!
Ruth portrays a type of these end-time believers when she
clung to Naomi saying:
"Entreat me not to leave you,
Or to turn back from following after you; ... (Ruth 1:16-17)
The word clung here is the same Hebrew word used in the
previously-mentioned passage from Zechariah to describe the ten from each
nation taking hold of (clinging to) a Jew.

MORE POINTS ABOUT ISAIAH 17
-
It will happen at a time of severe financial hardship
in Israel; such as is presently experienced due to the Arab's intifada and
the world-wide economic slowdown, especially after the attacks in New York
and Washington on September 11, 2001?
Isaiah 17:4 And in that day
it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the
fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
-
The hardship will cause the Jews to start seeking
God, realizing that an "act of God" will the only answer for their problems
with the hord of Muslims threatening them.
7 In that day men will look
to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of
Israel.
-
3 The fortified city ("fortress
- KJV) will disappear from Ephraim, and royal
power from Damascus; the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the
Israelites," declares the LORD Almighty.
"Ephraim" in this context, could refer to the
present tenacious Arab occupation of Israeli land - especially high places
like Mount Ephraim. (See
Nablus). They will be brought down like the Syrians, while the
meek, like Aram, will be raised up and given glory. Should this thesis be
correct, Israel will deal with her internal and external problems with Arabs
and Islam at the same time. (go

-
9 In that day shall his strong cities
be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left
because of the
children of
Israel:
and there shall be desolation.
For Israel to be able to claim "deserted" territory,
they need to be responsible for it to become deserted, and
"because of the children
of Israel," indicates that they
will be.
-
12 Oh, the raging of many nations--
they rage like the raging sea! Oh, the uproar of the peoples-- they roar
like the roaring of great waters!
The nations surely are in uproar about the "evil"
attack (Pres. Bush) on the US, and this "raging" will also be directed towards
Israel should she be forced into using less "peaceful" means to save herself.
God will, however, deal with this hatred towards Israel:
13 Although the peoples roar
like the roar of surging waters, when he rebukes them they flee far away,
driven before the wind like chaff on the hills, like tumbleweed before a
gale.
See also what Psalm 2 says
about the nations raging.
-
The word "terror" in the
NIV translation of verse 14, is very appropriate in that the action that
will lead to the destruction of Damascus and other targets might follow act(s)
of terror.
14 In the evening, sudden
terror! Before the morning, they are gone! This is the portion of
those who loot us, the lot of those who plunder us.
NB: It must be noted that everything will be over
by morning; in other words the war will last about 12 hours, which points
towards mass destruction by means of powerful hi-tech means.
-
God allowed the ludicrous things leftist politicians
did that weakened Israel's security because it could trigger the Isaiah 17
war. Viz.
-
Giving the Arafat's corrupt, terrorist, Authority
guns - it legitimized Israel's shooting back at them.
-
PM Ehud Barak's cowardly withdrawal from Lebanon
- it brought Hisballah within striking distance on Israel's (insecure) border.
Should they launch attacks on Israel, Syria will be drawn into the conflict
and attacked because Israel will hold them responsible for Hisballah's actions.
(See
"Ehud Barak's illustrious
political career" for more disasters he
has brought on Israel)
After the dust has settled following
the destruction of Israel's neighbors (Isaiah 17-19), peace will set in and
wealth will start accumulating from the vast resources Israel will be
controlling, and the en masse return of Jews to the land, of whom,
many with their assets. It will be like when they returned from Egypt, stripping
their host nations of their wealth. That they will have time to do this is
reflected by Isaiah 52:12,
But you will not leave in haste
or go in flight; for the LORD will go before you, the God of Israel will
be your rear guard.
Isaiah 60 also mentions this
wealth:
9 Surely the islands look to
me; in the lead are the ships of Tarshish, bringing your sons from afar,
with their silver and gold, to the honor of the LORD your God, the Holy One
of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor...11 Your gates will always
stand open, they will never be shut, day or night, so that men may bring
you the wealth of the nations-- their kings led in triumphal
procession.
